JDS Legacy Dance Presents Recital 2026 - Legacy Starts NOW!

There’s something special about recital season—the excitement, the nerves, the costumes, the music… and the moment everything comes together on stage. At JDS Legacy Dance, our annual recital is more than just a performance. It’s a celebration of growth, confidence, and the incredible journey each dancer has taken throughout the year.

Recital 2026: The Legacy Starts Now is exactly that—a moment where all the hard work, determination, and passion of our dancers shines brighter than ever.

A Year in the Making

From first-time pliés to polished performances, every dancer has spent the year building skills, strength, and confidence. Recital is their time to show it all off. It’s not about perfection—it’s about progress. It’s about stepping on stage, sometimes a little nervous, and leaving feeling proud.

Our dancers have learned more than just choreography this year. They’ve learned:

  • Discipline and commitment
  • Teamwork and encouragement
  • Confidence in themselves
  • How to keep going, even when things get hard

And that’s what makes recital so meaningful.

A Full Day of Dance

This year, we’re excited to offer a full experience for our dance families and community.

Solo Showcase – 1:00 PM
Before the main recital, our competitive dancers will take the stage to perform their solos. These dancers have spent months training, competing, and pushing themselves to new levels. This showcase is a chance to celebrate their dedication and give them the spotlight they’ve earned.

Main Recital – 2:00 PM
Then, the curtain rises for our full studio performance. From our tiniest dancers to our most advanced performers, every class will take the stage to share what they’ve been working on.

Your ticket includes access to both performances—because we believe every dancer deserves to be seen and celebrated.

More Than a Performance

For many dancers, recital is a milestone:

  • A first time on stage
  • A moment of overcoming fear
  • A chance to feel proud of themselves

For families, it’s a front-row seat to growth you’ve watched all year long.

And for us as teachers, it’s the moment we see it all come together—the technique, the confidence, the joy.

Creating the Legacy

At JDS Legacy Dance, we believe we’re building something bigger than just great dancers. We’re building a legacy—one of confidence, kindness, hard work, and love for the art of dance.

Every dancer who steps on that stage becomes part of that legacy.

Learning Through Dance

Do you have a dancer between the ages of 2-5? Research shows that movement is the KEY to a child’s development. Did you know that a child’s brain develops the most between birth and the age of 5? At JDS we take a brain-based approach and consider the developing brain in our dance education and curriculum. Children this age learn best through play! “Play” in dance class is exploring all the amazing ways our bodies can move, developing movement skills, and expressing our individual creativity. We have a GREAT Preschool Dance resource if you would like to read more. Just follow  this link  to see the post and find the file on BAND. As always, if you ever have a concern or question, do not hesitate to reach out to us! You can email the studio at JDSLegacyDance@gmail.com or text/call us at 918-944-6257, or message us through BAND. Enroll and watch your dancer grow!

Why Proper Stretching is Important for Dancers

Before jumping into a dance class and working on turns, leaps, splits, and more, being fully stretched is so important. Cold muscles can lead to injury and damage to your body. This is why we take a few minutes during the beginning of all of our classes to make sure our dancers are properly stretched and warm. Why do we stretch during class? -To Improve Your Class and Performance Experience – Stretching enables you to loosen your muscles and gets your whole body prepared for dance class and performances.  -To Increase Muscle Length and Flexibility – Stretching often will allow you to create length so you can do things like kicking your leg higher or have more extension in your leaps. -Decreases and Manages Stress – Stress can have a ripple effect on your muscles and build up unwelcome tension. Taking the time to stretch properly allows your body to relax and ease tension. -Promotes Blood Circulation and Relieves Pain – Stretching increases blood flow to your muscles which in...
